Industrial Drone Cleaning

Storage tank exteriors, pipe racks, silos, stacks and process buildings cleaned from the air — without scaffolding a live plant or sending crews into structures at height.

Industrial drone cleaning starts from S$4,000 depending on structure, access complexity and site clearance. The value on an industrial site is rarely the cleaning price — it is avoiding the scaffolding, permits-to-work and access downtime that conventional cleaning of a live plant requires.

Key takeaways

  • Price: From S$4,000 by structure and clearance requirements.
  • Jurong Island needs JTC clearance on top of the CAAS permit - longer lead time.
  • Hazardous area classification is the real constraint; standard drones are not zone-rated.
  • Scaffolding avoidance is usually worth more than the cleaning itself on a live plant.
  • Not confined space. We clean exteriors; internal vessel work is a different discipline.

Structures we clean

StructureSuitabilityNotes
Storage tank exteriorsExcellentLarge continuous curved surfaces, open approach.
SilosExcellentSame geometry advantage as tanks.
Process building facadesExcellentStandard facade work in an industrial setting.
Chimneys and stacksGoodSubject to plant status and thermal conditions.
Cooling tower exteriorsGoodExterior shell only; internals are separate work.
Pipe racks and structural steelPartialCongested geometry limits coverage; hybrid likely.
Internal vessels and confined spacesNot applicableDifferent discipline entirely - not aerial work.

Jurong Island and secured estates

Jurong Island is Singapore's petrochemical hub and a restricted estate. Drone operations there require JTC security clearance in addition to the CAAS Activity Permit, plus the facility operator's own site approval and permit-to-work.

Practically, that means longer lead times than a commercial building — plan six to eight weeks rather than three to four — and additional administrative cost for the clearance process and escorted site access. We handle the applications; the operator controls the schedule.

Hazardous area classification

This is the genuine limitation on industrial drone work and it is worth being blunt about. Standard cleaning drones are electrical equipment and are not certified for classified hazardous zones where flammable atmospheres may be present.

What that means in practice. Work is either scheduled around plant status — during shutdown or turnaround when the area is gas-free and certified — or restricted to non-classified parts of the site. This is assessed with the operator's HSE function before any quote is firmed. Any contractor who does not raise classification before quoting has not thought about your site.

Frequently asked questions

Can drones clean on Jurong Island?

Yes, with clearance. Jurong Island operations require JTC security clearance in addition to the standard CAAS Activity Permit, plus site-specific approval from the facility operator. Lead times are longer than for ordinary commercial sites.

What industrial structures can drones clean?

Storage tank exteriors, pipe racks, structural steel, silos, chimneys and stacks, cooling tower exteriors, conveyor structures and process building facades. Anything with an open approach and no requirement for physical contact work.

Is drone cleaning allowed near live process plant?

It depends on the facility hazardous area classification. Standard cleaning drones are not rated for classified hazardous zones, so work is scheduled around plant status or restricted to non-classified areas. This is assessed case by case with the operator.

How much does industrial drone cleaning cost?

Industrial cleaning typically starts from S$4,000 depending on structure type, access complexity and clearance requirements. Secured-estate sites carry additional cost for clearance administration and escorted access.
