Cost: the honest version
The marketing claim is that drones are dramatically cheaper. In Singapore that is often untrue, because rope access here is competitively priced and the labour market for it is mature.
Where the drone genuinely wins is setup. Rigging a gondola or certifying rope anchor points takes days before any cleaning happens, and that cost is carried whether the facade is 1,000 sqm or 5,000 sqm. A drone crew is productive within hours of arriving. On a large, simple elevation that advantage compounds into a real price difference.
On a small or complex facade it does not. If the drone can only cover 60% of the elevation and you still need rope or pole crews for the rest, you are paying two mobilisations. That job should be priced at parity and chosen on speed and disruption, not cost.
How to test a quote. Ask any drone contractor what percentage of your facade they can actually reach, and what happens to the remainder. If the answer is "100%" without a site visit, the variation order is coming later.
